Super Charlotte Studio Logo Design
iF Award, Asia Design Prize Finalist
The logo represents a new character born from merging 'X' and 'C', drawing profound inspiration from two cultural touchstones: Xu Bing's Tianshu, which explores the intersection of Chinese and Western writing systems, and Nüshu, the unique script created by Chinese women as their own form of expression within a patriarchal society. Operating from America, Super Charlotte Studio uses this powerful symbol to challenge Western stereotypes while fostering cross-cultural dialogue. Through thoughtful photography and authentic representation, it tries to address the underrepresentation of Chinese women in Western media.
The logo creates a new character merging 'X' and 'C', inspired by Xu Bing's Tianshu and Nüshu (Chinese women's script). Based in America, the studio addresses the underrepresentation of Chinese women in Western media while fostering cross-cultural dialogue. Like Nüshu, which gave voice to women in traditional society, this design serves as both artistic expression and cultural empowerment. This approach effectively challenges stereotypes through authentic storytelling, making it uniquely suited for representing Chinese women's contemporary experiences.
