Experimental Project

This project delves into the concepts of identity and feminism, exploring the complexities of self-presentation as a woman. At one point in my life, I found great pleasure in dressing up and would devote a significant amount of time to doing so. However, as time passed, I began to question the motivations behind this practice. Was I dressing up for myself or for others? Did my appearance truly reflect my authentic self? These questions lingered in my mind and led me to take a series of portraits, which I then manipulated through techniques such as sewing, burning, and bleach cleaning. Through this process, I aimed to unravel the layers of meaning behind my outward presentation and to explore the relationship between appearance and identity. Ultimately, I printed an image of myself at my own height and erased my features with bleach until I was left with a simple human silhouette, prompting further reflection on the nature of self and self-presentation.
